How does it feel to be different and misunderstood? And who cares? Emily Knight is young and famous, self-aware and intelligent. But what if the one thing that makes Emily different also makes her a target for evil? Can she defend herself...and everything she loves?

A. Bello breaks boundaries with this gritty and gripping fantasy novel. Initially released in 2012, the series was acquired by Hashtag Press and released as a second edition in June 2017.

Emily Knight I am... is about a thirteen year old warrior named Emily, who is far from ordinary and she hates it. She’s the daughter of a heroic warrior and the press’s favourite problem child.

She lives with the elite in Legends Village. Against her wishes, Emily is accepted in to the prestigious Osaki Training School for children who are born with supernatural powers aka warriors. She learns to fly, create fireballs, breathe under water and play Dojo.

Emily befriends Michella Kinkle, who’s fears she's the average one in her talented family. Wesley Parker, who jokes to hide his pain that his mother is in rehab but he is lethal with a pack of cards and the handsome but very smart Jason Notting, who never notices the girls falling at his feet.

Emily finds it hard dealing with the pressure of filling in her family's famous shoes but when Emily encounters an old face, she has to find a way to choose between the two people that she loves. The wrong choice could destroy warriors everywhere.

About the Author

A. Bello is a 29-year-old author who was born and raised in London, where she still lives and works. She wrote her first novel at the age of eight - she fought monsters and dragons on a daily basis – and experienced her first taste of ‘being published’ after winning a school poetry competition at the age of 12. Seeing her words in print fuelled a passion for writing that remains to this day. A. Bello first began writing the Emily Knight saga shortly afterwards (still only 12 years old!) with the intention of filling the gaping hole in children’s fiction for an inspirational, strong, black female, young protagonist. This gap, almost two decades later, remains in the publishing world despite continued calls for more BAME background authors and diversity within characters and plotlines.

A. Bello is the founder of The Lil' Author School and co-founder of The Author School. The Author School was shortlisted for The Great British Entrepreneur Awards 2016.
